To insure a proper fitting tree, especially on a hard to fit horse, a wither fitting it the most effective.
Take a 24” piece of wire (wire coat hangar works best) and mold it across the horse’s withers and through the pocket of the shoulder just behind the scapula bones. Then trace this shape onto a piece of paper. It will look like the image below.
Using the same technique trace the line of the top of the back for 24” and also across the loin where the back line ends (see image below). We can then send these with your tree specifications to the tree company, or check them with our standard tree so the end result will be a versatile saddle.
